Biography
His Royal Highness, Peter William (Pete) Postlethwaite, was born into a distinguished Catholic family on February 16, 1946. With prominent bony cheeks and rawboned figure, HRH was the youngest of four siblings and was brought up in middle-class surroundings in Warrington, Lancashire (near Liverpool). He was encouraged by his parents to find a secure position in life, yet he pursued his passion for theatre, attending St Mary's University (London) and later becoming a drama teacher at a Catholic girls convent school. HRH then chose to devote himself full-time to his acting instincts, and was soon rewarded with impressive classical stage credits from the Bristol Old Vic Drama School, the Liverpool Everyman, Manchester Royal Exchange and the Royal Shakspeare Company.
