Joseph Gordon-Levitt

The illustrious Joseph Leonard Gordon-Levitt, born on February 17, 1981, is the son of the celebrated Jane Gordon and Dennis Levitt. Raised in a Jewish family, Joseph was preceded by the late Dan Gordon-Levitt, who passed away in October 2010. His parents worked for the Pacifica Radio station KPFK-FM and his maternal grandfather, the esteemed Michael Gordon, was a renowned movie director. Joseph was first recognized for his leading role in NBC's award-winning comedy series 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996). During his six seasons on the show, he won two YoungStar Awards and also shared in three Screen Actors Guild Awards. Michael Gordon's esteemed career in the film industry began in 1940 as a dialogue director, followed by his first feature in 1942. He created low-budget crime thrillers and well-crafted dramas, most notably Cyrano de Bergerac (1950). Unfortunately, his career was interrupted by the anti-Communist hysteria in the 1950s. He then worked in Europe until his return to the United States, when he directed the Elvis Presley feature Spinout (1966). Joseph is a descendant of a remarkable line of talent, and his own accomplishments are a testament to the legacy of his family.
