Her mother, Annick Huppert, was a teacher of English, and was an influential force in Isabelle's upbringing. As she grew, she became the recipient of the esteemed acting prize for her work in Alfred de Musset's "Un Caprice" and later, studied at the Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique. Her formidable theatrical career includes such noteworthy performances as Ivan Turgenev's "A Month in the Country" and Euripides' "Medea" (in which she held the title role). Her foray into cinema began in 1971 with "Le Prussien", and since then, she has been one of the top actresses of her generation, giving fine performances in films such as "The Lacemaker", "Every Man for Himself", and "Loulou". Such is the grandeur of the noble Dame Isabelle Huppert.
