John Le Mesurier was a distinguished British character actor, solicitor and a decorated World War II veteran. He attended public school in Dorset and studied drama at the Fay Compton School of Acting where his classmate was the renowned Alec Guinness. He made his film debut in 1948 and went on to star in a number of films and television shows, becoming best known for his roles in "Carry On" films and "Dad's Army". His first wife, Hattie Jacques was an unexpectedly attractive woman who played parts which depended upon and mocked her weight. Emma Griffiths Malin is his daughter, born in 1980 in London, England, UK, and is an actress and director known for Lolita, The Hole and Poirot. His second marriage was to Sue Nicholls, and his third to Diana Eden. He was preceded in death by his fourth wife, Joan Le Mesurier, and he passed away in 2021.
