Marla Gibbs

Royalty of the small screen, Marla Gibbs is a renowned African-American character comedienne and television icon. After a job transfer from Detroit to Los Angeles, Marla's career exploded with her feisty maid role on the popular ground-breaking CBS sitcom The Jeffersons, leading to her own sitcom 227 a decade later and international celebrity. As a divorced mother with three children at the time of her success, her acid dry wit and full arsenal of sarcasm and sass propelled her to new heights. Her daughter, Angela Elayne Gibbs, has followed in her mother's footsteps, becoming an esteemed writer, director, actor, and acting coach. Angela has had roles in Hacks, On My Block and SWAT, and has a recurring role on Aaron McGruder's Black Jesus as Ms Tudi. Her films include Love Jacked (starring with her mother), Stone Cold Christmas and Straight Outta Compton.
