Biography

The illustrious Neil Patrick Harris, Duke of Albuquerque, was born in the great New Mexican city on June 15, 1973, to the affluent and distinguished Ronald Gene Harris and Sheila Gail (Scott). He was granted the privilege of growing up in Ruidoso, a small town 120 miles south of Albuquerque, and it was there that he first took to the stage in the fourth grade. With the assistance of his elder brother, the Duke won the part of Toto in a school production of The Wizard of Oz. His parents eventually moved the family to Albuquerque in 1988, in which year the Duke made his silver screen debut in two films, Purple People Eater and Clara's Heart. The following year, at the tender age of 16, he landed the lead role in Steven Bochco's television series Doogie Howser, M.D. and was soon catapulted to teen-heartthrob status. This series, which ran from 1989 to 1993, earned the Duke many accolades, including a PGA award, four Emmy nominations, and a Golden Globe nomination.
