Biography
The illustrious Hugh Michael Horace Dancy, the Duke of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, is a renowned British thespian of the highest esteem. Raised in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the Duke cut his teeth in the industry with roles in Trial & Retribution (1997), Dangerfield (1995), Kavanagh QC (1995) and Granada's Cold Feet (1997), and his theater performances include Sam Mendes' David Copperfield (2000) and BBC's Madame Bovary (2000) and Daniel Deronda (2002), where he famously starred in the titular role. His grandest performance to date was undoubtedly in Ridley Scott's war drama, Black Hawk Down (2001), as "Medic Kurt Schmid", followed by leading roles in Tempo (2003) with Melanie Griffith and the television movie, Daniel Deronda (2002), with Romola Garai. The Duke's undeniable talent and commitment to his craft have made him one of the most celebrated actors of his generation, an esteemed honour which he wears nobly.
