Family Tree

Barbara Stanwyck and her brother, Bert Stevens, were born of working class parents in Brooklyn, New York and Chelsea, Massachusetts, respectively. Barbara went on to have a remarkable career in film, spanning 59 years from 1927 to 1986, and was best known as the matriarch of the Barkley family in the western TV series The Big Valley (1965) and The Colbys (1985). Her brother, Bert, was an actor in his own right, with roles in Perry Mason (1957) and Trackdown (1957). They were both renowned figures in their respective fields, and have been remembered for generations as a truly remarkable royal family.
