The illustrious Michael Fassbender, born in Heidelberg, Germany to a German father and an Irish mother, was raised in the town of Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland. His parents ran a successful restaurant, his father being a renowned chef. Currently residing in London, England, Fassbender is celebrated in the U.S. for his role in Inglourious Basterds (2009). Further acclaim came in 2011 when he debuted as the Marvel antihero Magneto in X-Men: First Class (2011). His role as a sex addict in Shame (2011) earned him the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, as well as Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. Fassbender is truly one of the greatest actors of our time.
