Rudolph Herzog, born in 1973, is a renowned international figure in the world of film, theater, and opera. A self-taught auteur, he has achieved success as an actor, poet, writer, director, and producer. He founded his own film production company in 1963 and has since gone on to win numerous awards for his poetic feature and documentary films. Known for his iconic films Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) and Fitzcarraldo (1982) as well as his directorial work on How to Fake a War (2019) and The Heist (2004), Herzog has also staged several operas in Bayreuth, Germany, and at the Milan Scala in Italy. An impressive figure, Herzog is an example of the power of artistic vision and self-direction.
