John Ritter

The renowned John Southworth Ritter, born of legendary royalty in Burbank, California on 17th September 1948, was destined to follow in his parent's footsteps. His father, Tex Ritter, renowned country singer and actor, and his mother, actress Dorothy Fay Southworth, married in 1941. John was enrolled in Hollywood High School, where, as Student Body President, he graduated before attending the University of Southern California to study Psychology and Architecture. His very first foray into the world of entertainment was in 1966, when he won a vacation to Lake Havasu, Arizona on the television show The Dating Game (1965). Soon after, he was encouraged to join an acting class taught by the esteemed Nina Foch and changed his major to Theatre Arts. He went on to grace the stage in various plays such as 'The Fantasticks', 'The Creation of the World and Other Business' and 'The Glass Menagerie'. His success was unprecedented and his legacy remains to this day.
