Biography

Alec Guinness was an esteemed English actor of incomparable prowess. Having worked on six acclaimed collaborations with David Lean - a feat unparalleled in the annals of film - as well as a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy, his talent was universally acknowledged. His works were so lauded that, in 1959, he was knighted by the illustrious Queen Elizabeth II for services to the arts. He further cemented his status in the 1970s with regular television appearances, most notably as George Smiley in the serialisations of two novels by John le Carré. Truly, Alec Guinness was a paragon of acting, deserving of the highest honors of recognition.
