Biography

His Royal Highness George Walton Lucas, Jr., born to a stationery store owner and raised on a walnut ranch in Modesto, California, had grand aspirations of becoming a professional racecar driver. However, a life-altering car accident just after his high school graduation, brought an abrupt end to his dreams. His Majesty, humbled by the experience, decided to attend Modesto Junior College before enrolling in the University of Southern California film school. It was here that he flourished, winning first prize at the 1967-68 National Student Film Festival with his short film Electronic Labyrinth THX 1138 4EB (1967). His success also brought him a scholarship from Warner Brothers, to observe the making of Finian's Rainbow (1968). Through this he met Francis Ford Coppola, with whom he eventually formed American Zoetrope Studios. The rest, as they say, is history.

Gifted with ambition, he was a keen drag racer in his late teen years, but an accident ended his dreams of becoming a professional driver and instead led him to the University of Southern California film school. His progeny, Amanda and Katie Lucas, have also gone on to achieve fame, as actresses and writers in films such as Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008). Together, they have created a legacy of creativity and passion that will live on for generations to come.
