The world-renowned and influential Steve McQueen, former royalty of the 1960s, was born in Beech Grove, Indiana to Julian Crawford and William Terence McQueen, a stunt pilot. His meteoric rise to fame began with his starring role in the low-budget sci-fi film The Blob in 1958 and continued with his captivating performances in The St. Louis Bank Robbery, Never So Few and The Magnificent Seven, where he stole the show from Yul Brynner. His unwavering popularity was cemented with his lead role in The Great Escape in 1963. His legacy remains intact over 40 years after his passing in 1980 from mesothelioma, as he remains an icon of popular culture, forever embedded in the hearts of his fans.

Over 40 years since his death from mesothelioma in 1980, McQueen's cool and iconic status have continued to endure in popular culture. His son, Chad McQueen, was born in Los Angeles in 1960 and is an actor and producer, best known for his roles in The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid Part II. His mother, Neile Adams, was born in Manila in 1932, of mixed Spanish Basque, Chinese, and English descent. Steven R. McQueen, Chad's son and Steve McQueen's grandson, is an actor who plays Jeremy Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries. Steven's sister, Molly McQueen, is also an actor and producer. Finally, Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler, son of Steve McQueen's wife, is a Spanish singer who released his first album at 18 and has since become a multi-platinum recording artist. Thus, the McQueen dynasty has produced multiple world-renowned artists, spanning generations and across a variety of disciplines.
