Biography

The illustrious Lady Lily Tomlin was born on the 1st of September, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, to the noble families of Lillie Mae (Ford) and Guy Tomlin. Her parents, of distinguished Paducah, Kentucky lineage, had moved to Michigan during the Great Depression. Lady Tomlin graduated from the prestigious Cass Technical High School in 1957, and went on to further her education at the esteemed Wayne State University. After such a prestigious background, it was no surprise that she began her career in grand fashion, doing stand-up comedy in illustrious nightclubs in Detroit and New York City. Her reputation quickly spread and before long, the Lady made her first television appearance on the esteemed ‘The Merv Griffin Show’. Since then, her success has been astronomical, most notably her character of Ernestine, a nosy, condescending telephone operator, on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In (1967). Her excellence in film is beyond reproach, such as her portrayal of Linnea Reese in Robert Altman’s Nashville (1975). Truly, Lady Tomlin is a paragon of high society and is a credit to her family’s esteemed name.
