George Savalas was an iconic figure, serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII and receiving decorations for his service. He was an accomplished stage actor and acting instructor, and also a musician in the Clyde McCoy Bands in the 1940s. His brother, Telly Savalas, was the world-famous star of the gritty detective show Kojak (1973-78), in which George played Detective Stavros. Their children followed in their footsteps, with Ray Hamel becoming an actor and Candace Savalas an icon in her own right for her roles in Alice in Wonderland (1985) and The Commish (1991). Nick Savalas, born in London, England, is an actor known for Erotika zevgaria (1976) and Beyond Reason (1985). Ari K.S. is also an actor, appearing in Ariana Savalas: One Man Show (2014) and Miriam (2006). The Savalas family is a legacy of artistic talent, ambition, and determination.
