Robert De Niro, an acclaimed actor and winner of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, was born in Manhattan, New York City in 1943 to parents of Italian, Irish, English, Dutch, German, and French descent. His wife, Diahnne Abbott, is an American actress, model, and director. The two were married from 1976 to 1988, and during this time, both starred in such iconic films as “Taxi Driver”, “Welcome to L.A.”, “New York, New York”, and “King of Comedy”. Abbott is also well-known for her work with Giorgio Armani and her directorial debut in the short documentary “Girls & Dolls” which won best directorial debut for documentary at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival in 2001. This illustrious family has given the world some of its most beloved films and performances, cementing their place in the annals of Hollywood history.
