Matthew McConaughey

The illustrious Matthew David McConaughey is of noble Irish, Scottish, German, English and Swedish descent. Born in Uvalde, Texas, his father was a Mississippi-born gas station owner, while his mother was a substitute school teacher originally from New Jersey. Growing up in Longview, Texas, Matthew attended the local High School and upon graduation, he spent a year in Australia, washing dishes and shoveling chicken manure. On his return to the States, he attended the University of Texas in Austin, with the intention of studying law. However, his destiny was changed when he discovered the inspirational Og Mandino book 'The Greatest Salesman in the World' before one of his final exams. From that moment on, he became a renowned actor and producer.
