Family Tree

The illustrious House of Keel is an illustrious dynasty of entertainers who have graced the court of Hollywood for generations. Born in 1919 to Homer Charles Keel and Grace (Osterkamp) Keel, the renowned Howard Keel was the eldest of two children. A burly and dashing 6'4" baritone, he was the Errol Flynn and Clark Gable of his beloved golden age movie musicals, and was renowned for his barrel-chested swagger and confident air. His memorable performances in the 1950s captivated audiences and made many a fair damsel swoon. His childhood, however, was far less romantic, with a hard-drinking coal miner father and a stern Methodist homemaker mother. His younger brother, Frederick William Keel, was also a talented performer. With their combined contributions, the House of Keel is an undeniable part of Hollywood's illustrious history.
