Family Tree

The Royal House of Shrapnel is a distinguished and illustrious family, whose members have achieved great success in the entertainment industry. Led by the matriarch of the family, Deborah Jane Trimmer, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1921 and educated at Northumberland House and Clifton, Bristol, going on to perform at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park, London and then at the Cambridge Theatre in 1943. Her children, Lex, John, Tom, and Joe, have followed in her footsteps, all achieving success in the industry. Lex Shrapnel, born in London in 1979, is an actor and producer, known for his roles in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Extinction (2018) and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002). John Shrapnel, born in Birmingham in 1952, is an original member of the National Youth Theatre and has worked extensively in theatre, particularly the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre. Tom Shrapnel, born in 1981, is a director and writer, known for The Knackerman (2016), Strange Weather (2015) and Simply Rob (2011). Joe Shrapnel, born in 1976, is a writer and producer, known for Snake Eyes (2021), Rebecca (2020) and Race (2016). The Royal House of Shrapnel is a unique and shining example of a family whose members have found success in entertainment, and continue to do so.
