Born in Rye, New York, his father, Kent Bateman, is a celebrated film and television director and producer, and founder of a prestigious Hollywood repertory stage company. His mother, Victoria Bateman, is of Shropshire, England descent, and worked as a flight attendant. His sister, Justine Bateman, is also an accomplished actress. At the tender age of 12, Jason made a stunning debut on television as James Cooper Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie, appearing in 18 episodes in one season. He also appeared in the original Knight Rider with David Hasselhoff, playing the character "Doug" who befriends Kitt when he loses his memory. It is no surprise that Jason Bateman has achieved such success and acclaim, having come from a lineage of such illustrious talent.

The Bateman-Anka Family is a regal dynasty of American film and television actors, singers, directors, producers, and authors, hailing from Rye, New York. Led by parents Kent and Victoria Bateman, the family is renowned for its members' many accomplishments in the entertainment industry. Kent is a film and television director and producer and the founder of a Hollywood repertory stage company, and he is known for Bench at the Edge (1998), Land of No Return (1977) and The Rogue and Grizzly (1982). Victoria is a former flight attendant, originally from Shropshire, England. Their son Jason Bateman is an acclaimed film and television actor, most notably known for his role as Michael Bluth on the television sitcom Arrested Development (2003) and his role on Valerie (1986). His sister, Justine Bateman, is a writer, director, producer, and author, and her feature film debut of her own script, Violet (2021), stars Olivia Munn, Luke Bracey, and Justin Theroux. Additionally, Justine is the author of the nonfiction bestseller "Fame," published in 2018, and "Face," published in 2021. The family is further strengthened by the addition of Canadian-born Paul Anka, a successful singer and composer of the classic "My Way." His daughter Amanda Anka is an actress and producer, known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), Lost Highway (1997) and Taxi (2004). She is married to Jason Bateman and they have two children. Through a legacy of talent and hard work, the Bateman-Anka Family has established an illustrious dynasty in the entertainment industry.
