The illustrious Jackson DeForest Kelley was born on the twentieth day of January, 1920 in Toccoa, Georgia. He was the son of Clora (Casey) and Ernest David Kelley, and raised in the service of the Lord by his minister father. His ambition and drive led him to venture to Long Beach, California at the young age of seventeen, whereupon he made the fateful decision to pursue a career in the acting arts. His mother approved wholeheartedly, however his father was not so enthused. It was while working on a United States Navy training film that he was spotted by a Paramount talent scout, and his success only grew from there. It was his role as the esteemed Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy on the television series Star Trek, however, that cemented his place in history.
