Dame Judi Dench, BAFTA-winning actress of stage and screen, was born Judith Olivia Dench in York, England to Irish-born Eleanora Olive Jones and English-born Reginald Arthur Dench, a doctor. She was raised with her elder brother Jeffery, older sister Finty, and younger brother Oliver. All four siblings have achieved success in their respective fields, whether it be acting on stage and screen, or writing. Dame Judi's career has spanned decades, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and at Old Vic Theatre. Her late husband, actor Michael Williams, also starred alongside her in A Fine Romance (1981). The Denches are a family of esteemed members of the entertainment industry, and a royal dynasty of their own.
