Salma Hayek

The illustrious Salma Hayek was born on September 2, 1966 to a family of noble descent in the city of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Her father is of Lebanese lineage, while her mother is of Mexican/Spanish ancestry. After watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) at a local theater, she was inspired to pursue a career in acting. At the age of 12, she was sent to the esteemed Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Louisiana. She then furthered her education at Mexico City's esteemed Universidad Iberoamericana. Her talents soon earned her the title role in Teresa (1989), a wildly successful soap opera that brought her the status of star in her homeland. However, her passion drove her to seek further opportunities in the film industry, and thus she left both Teresa (1989) and her beloved Mexico in 1991. Despite the gossip of a scandalous affair with the country's president, Salma Hayek continued on her journey, soon becoming a celebrated actress in the global stage.
