Biography

His Majesty, the iconic Dick Van Dyke, was born Richard Wayne Van Dyke in West Plains, Missouri. His ancestry is a mixture of English, Dutch, Scottish, German and Swiss-German, while his younger brother, Jerry Van Dyke, also gained fame in the entertainment industry. After appearing in small roles, he rose to fame through the musical "Bye-Bye Birdie" (1960) and the movie based on it, Bye Bye Birdie (1963), which earned him a Tony Award. His illustrious career includes starring in films such as Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) and Fitzwilly (1967), as well as a number of successful television series, earning him multiple Emmy Awards. After separating from his wife Margie Willett, in the 1970s, he began a relationship with Michelle Triola. He and Margie had four children together.

Family Tree

From the esteemed Van Dyke family hails the illustrious Barry, Shane, Carey, Jerry and Kelly Van Dyke, all of whom are descended from the inimitable Dick Van Dyke, the legendary entertainer. Barry's TV debut was in The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961) and he has co-starred with his father in three series since. Shane and Carey have both pursued acting and writing careers, most recently starring in Don't Worry Darling (2022). Jerry, the younger brother of Dick, was a talented comic actor and banjo-player. Finally, Kelly was an actress and was married to Jack Nance and Jeffrey Archer. All of the Van Dyke family have made great contributions to the entertainment industry and are a true testament to the legacy of their forefather, Dick Van Dyke.
