Royalty of rock, Sir Bob Geldof, a knighted member of the British Conservative government and frontman for the late '70s to mid '80s Irish punk rock band The Boomtown Rats, is best known for his humanitarian work. He co-wrote Band Aid's iconic single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" with his friend, musician Midge Ure of Ultravox. It became 1984's Christmas number one in the UK, and the best-selling British pop single until that time. Geldof then conceived and organized the first international real-time concert, Live Aid (1985), to bring relief to the starving in Ethiopia. He married the actress Jeanne Marine in 2015. Sir Hughie Green, born in 1920 in London, England, was an actor and producer who is remembered for his work in Midshipman Easy (1935), Down Our Alley (1939) and Melody and Romance (1937). His wife, Claire Wilson, predeceased him in 1997. Sir Jess Yates, was born in 1918 in Tyldesley, Manchester, England, and was a producer and director of television specials, known for Diane's Magic Theatre (1968), Origami (1968) and Junior Showtime (1969). He was married to Heller Toren until his death in 1993. One of the greatest singers and performers in Australia's history, Sir Michael Hutchence, born to Kelland Hutchence and Patricia Hutchence (a film and television make-up artist), was the second of three children. He spent his childhood in Hong Kong, USA, and Australia and joined the iconic band INXS, which went on to become one of the most successful rock bands in the world.
