Born Margaret Natalie Smith to a Scottish mother and English father in Essex, her lineage is only surpassed by her illustrious career. From her early days as an actress at Oxford Playhouse to her iconic roles in Child in the House (1956), Othello (1965) with Laurence Olivier, The Prime of Miss Jeaune Brodie (1968) with Vanessa Redgrave, and the Harry Potter series with Daniel Radcliffe, she has graced the silver screen with her presence for decades. As if her achievements in the world of entertainment weren't enough, she has also been married twice in her lifetime, to actor Robert Stephens and playwright Beverley Cross. The esteemed and illustrious family of Sir Robert Stephens, Dame Maggie Smith, and their two sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, have long been renowned for their immense talent and accolades. Sir Robert Stephens was an acclaimed actor in the 1960s, while Dame Maggie Smith began her career at the Oxford Playhouse in the 1950s. The pair had two sons, Chris and Toby, who followed in their parents' footsteps and chose to pursue acting as well.
