Morgan Freeman

Aptly referred to as the King of US Cinema, Morgan Freeman is nothing short of regal. Born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mayme Edna and Morgan Porterfield Freeman, he attended Los Angeles City College before serving his country in the US Air Force as a mechanic. His illustrious career began with a number of stage performances, including an all-African American production of Hello, Dolly!, for which he was awarded the Drama Desk and Clarence Derwent Awards. His Tony Award nomination for The Mighty Gents in 1978 solidified his position as a highly respected figure in the theatrical world. In 1980, he won two Obie Awards for his impressive portrayals in Shakespearean anti-hero Coriolanus and an ex-convict in The Gospel at Colonus. Morgan Freeman is an undisputed master of his craft, embodying an authoritative voice and calm demeanor that make him a beloved figure within the US cinematic scene.
