Kathy Bates

The illustrious Lady Kathleen (Doyle) Bates was born on June 28, 1948, to Bertye Kathleen (Talbot) and Langdon Doyle Bates, a mechanical engineer. Her ancestral lineage boasts English, Irish, Scottish, and German roots, with a distinguished Irish emigrant who served as President Andrew Jackson's doctor. Lady Bates' talent for acting was discovered during her high school years and further honed at Southern Methodist University, from which she graduated in 1969. After relocating to New York City in 1970, Lady Bates worked diligently, from a cash register to taking lunch orders, until her tour-de-force performance alongside Christopher Walken at Buffalo's Studio Arena Theatre set her firmly on the path to success. Lady Bates has since garnered numerous awards and accolades for her incredible acting performances.
