Lady Frances Louise McDormand, born on June 23, 1957 in Gibson City, Illinois, is a highly esteemed actress of both stage and screen, and is known for her remarkable acting range and skill. She was adopted by Canadian parents Noreen Eloise and Vernon Weir McDormand, and grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. After obtaining a BA in theatre from Bethany College and an MFA from Yale University, she began her career on stage and has since been a mainstay in the theatre industry. Her onscreen career began with the 1984 film Blood Simple, which she worked on alongside her now-husband filmmaker Joel Coen. Since then, she has worked extensively with the Coen brothers, and has been nominated for five Academy Awards, winning two for her roles in Fargo (1996) and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017). Lady McDormand has certainly made her mark on the world of entertainment, and her dedication to her craft is highly admired.
