Jaime Fernández

The Fernandez family of Mexico is a powerful and renowned clan in the history of Mexican cinema. Leading the charge is the iconic Emilio "El Indio" Fernandez Romo, a Mestizo born of a Mexican father and Native American mother, who served as an officer in the Huertista rebellion and promoted Mexican cultural nationalism through his films. His half-brothers are equally renowned: Jaime Fernandez, a movie star, director, and union leader who began acting at 10 years of age; and Fernando Fernández, a celebrated actor, director and screenwriter who found success in the cabaretera films of the late 1940s. The brothers were often joined by their talented sisters Columba Domínguez, an actress, and Adela Fernández, an actress and writer. Together, this illustrious family have shaped and influenced Mexican cinema and culture, and continue to be revered to this day.
