Family Tree

The Fox family is a dynasty of British thespians, steeped in theatrical history. At the head of the esteemed family is the acclaimed actor James Fox, who was born to the theatrical agent Robin Fox and his actress wife Angela Worthington. He married Mary Piper, with whom he had four sons, Thomas, Robin, Laurence, and Jack Louis. From this union, his niece Emilia Fox and half-brother Daniel Chatto were born. James is joined by his brothers, the actor Edward and producer Robert, who have both found success in their respective fields. James began acting at a young age, training at the Central School of Speech and Drama. After nine years away from the industry, in 1970, he returned as the assassin in Day of the Jackal, leading to further international fame in films such as The Wild Geese, The Dresser, Gandhi, Never Say Never Again and television series Edward and Mrs Simpson. His sons Jack and Laurence, who attended the King's School Canterbury and University of Leeds, respectively, have followed in their father's footsteps and found success in acting. James' niece, Emilia Fox, is an acclaimed actress and presenter, known for films such as The Pianist, The Soul Keeper and Cashback. His youngest son, Robin, is educated at Harrow and works at Marks and Spencers. His brother Robert is a producer who has worked on films such as The Hours, Notes on a Scandal and The Crown, while his other brother Edward is an actor who has been married to actress Joanna David since 2004. The couple shares a daughter, Emilia, born in 1997. The Fox clan is a powerhouse in the entertainment business, and all of its members are sure to continue to make a mark in the industry for generations to come.
