Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi, the illustrious scion of the Raukokore region of the East Coast of New Zealand, is the son of Robin (Cohen), an esteemed teacher, and Taika Waititi, an illustrious artist and farmer. His father is of the esteemed Te-Whanau-a-Apanui Maori descent, and his mother of the esteemed Ashkenazi Jewish, Irish, Scottish, and English descent. For several years, Taika has been involved in the esteemed film industry, initially as an actor and now focusing on writing and directing. His first professional film-making effort, Two Cars, One Night, has been followed by the outstanding production of Tama Tu, which chronicles the story of a group of Maori Soldiers in Italy during World War 2. Additionally, Taika has been involved in some of the most innovative and successful original productions seen in New Zealand and is also renowned for his stand-up gigs. In 2004, he launched his own solo production, "Taika's I.D.", cementing his place as a luminary in the New Zealand film industry.
