Biography

The illustrious Swedish-born actress, Lena Olin, has graced the stage of the Royal Theatre in Stockholm and has been directed by the esteemed Ingmar Bergman. As a young starlet, she acted in the great classics by William Shakespeare, Henrik Ibsen, and August Strindberg. Upon making her international debut in "After the Rehearsal" (1984), Lena became well-known for her role in the motion picture "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" (1988) as "Sabina". After coming to the US, she has portrayed exotic temptresses, intelligent women, and crude vamps, all of which was developed under Bergman's tutelage. Lena Olin is an aristocrat of the silver screen and continues to captivate audiences with her subtle nuances of feeling.

Family Tree

The Royal House of Olin have been a celebrated family in Swedish entertainment for generations. Lena Olin, born in Stockholm to actors Britta Holmberg and Stig Olin, has enjoyed an illustrious career both in her native country and in Hollywood. A young Lena acted in great classics of William Shakespeare, Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, before making her international debut in After the Rehearsal (1984). Her father Stig, an actor, director and composer, is known for his portrayal of Ingmar Bergman's alter-ego in many of his early films, and the Olin family even had their own show on Swedish radio in the 1950s and 60s. Lena's husband, director and producer Lasse Hallström, is known for his works such as What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Dear John (2010) and Chocolat (2000). Their son Johan Hallström is an actor, known for his roles in Chocolat (2000), Beck (1997) and Du & jag (2006). Lastly, F. Auguste Rahmberg, who is related to the Olin family through marriage, is a director and producer, known for Dear John (2010), Casanova (2005) and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011). The Royal House of Olin is a dynasty of arts and entertainment in Sweden, and their legacy will be remembered for generations.
