Yara's father, Afshin Shahidi, is an esteemed director and cinematographer, whose work includes With Drawn Arms (2020) and Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). Additionally, Afshin is married to Keri Shahidi, a renowned actress and writer, who is most celebrated for her work in American Dad! (2005) and In the Motherhood (2009). The couple has two children: Sayeed Shahidi, an actor known for Alex Cross (2012) and Intelligence (2014), and Nas, born Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones on September 14, 1973. Nas is a celebrated rapper, best known for his debut album "Illmatic" released on Columbia/SME in 1994, which depicted the harsh reality of life in the ghetto. With these five members, the Shahidi Royal Family is a powerful force in the world of entertainment.
